I experienced a very strange issue with my PC today. I started Media Center and as soon as it started the mouse just disappeared. I never saw this happening. More to my surprise the menu items were being highlighted while I was moving the mouse. That was too strange for me to digest. I opened Windows Media Player and ditto happen there too. I was not aware of any changes made to the PC but finally I tried experimenting and I was able to resolve the issue that does not even came to my mind from the beginning. It has something to do with Mouse settings. So here is the solution:

- Click on start and Control panel.

- Double click on Mouse and it will open Mouse properties window.

- Click on pointer options tab

- Under visibility settings, there is an option “Display Pointer Trails”. Uncheck it and click on Apply and Ok.

Voila everything is fine with both Media Center and media player now.
