Google Talk has a very good feature of setting your status message to the currently playing music file in Window Media Player. Usually when I am at home I log-in to Google talk and set my status message to currently playing tracks. But for few days it was not displaying the currently playing song in my status message and the reason was not known to me. I thought may be Google talk is corrupted….. so I tried various troubleshooting steps including re-downloading and re-installing g-talk to make this feature working. But nothing worked. And finally I moved into Windows Media Player and guess what I found there?

GtalkYes, I found the setting to enable and disable this feature in Windows Media Player. So if your Google Talk is not showing the currently playing music track do the following :

- Open Windows Media Player
- Click on Tools and Options.
- Go to plug-ins tab.
- Under categories select Background and under Background check the option “Google Talk music plug-in”
- Click on Apply and Ok.

And you are done….Now your status message will show the current music track you are playing in Windows Media Player.
If you have not used google Talk and would like to test this feature, please download Google talk.
