Try syncing the keyboard manually:
Using a ball point pen, press and hold the keyboard/mouse Connect button on the front of the HP TouchSmart PC until the indicator light blinks.
Press the Connect button on the bottom of keyboard until the Caps lock indicator light (located on top next to the Caps lock key) starts blinking. The sync
should occur within 5 seconds.

Keyboard may not work for a few seconds when system idle about 20 mins

This is an issue from the server the weather application is synced. Reload the Weather application.

This encryption method utilizes the command prompt and the copy command in DOS and by using a switch /b it converts virtually any file type into an image. The method is very simple and takes less than 30 seconds. Here are the steps:

- Create a folder on your desktop say Test.

- Put all the files you want to hide inside this Test folder. Say we want to hide file1.txt, file2.mp3 and file3.swf inside an image called wallpaper.jpg. So you need to put all these files inside the Test folder.

- We will need winrar or any file compression utility (required to put multiple files into a single file)

- Create a rar archive of all the files (file1.txt, file2.mp3 and file3.swf) into a single file, say we name it as single.rar

- Now we will hide this single.rar inside the wallpaper.jpg file.

- Click on Start and Run and type cmd, click on Ok to open the command prompt in Windows XP.

- Click on Start and type cmd in the search box and hit enter to open the command prompt in Vista.

- In command window, change the directory to the Test folder. Generally the command prompt opens to the user directory. So in command prompt use Cd desktop to go to the desktop folder and then CD Test to go to the text folder. Now we are in our working directory.

- Here type the following command:

copy /b single.rar + wallpaper.jpg encrypted.jpg

Single.rar is our combined files in rar format and wallpaper.jpg is the image file where we are going to hde the single.rar file. encrypted.jpg (you can use any name of your choice) is the resultant image file that contains the rar file.

The switch ‘/b’ indcates that we are performing the binary copy.

Using this method we can hide virtually any file type like rar, swf, mp3, txt, exe etc within an image. The image file may be a jpg, png, bmp or gif.

Now,  when we double click on encrypted.jpg the file will be open in the default image program. So how are we going to see the rar file that we embedded? well, to see the rar file, just rename the encrypted.jpg to encrypted.rar and you can see the content of the single.rar file.

Advantages:

- Supports hiding any file type withing an image.
- No additional tool/software is required.
- Less time and resource consuming.
- You can hide an exe file into jpg and send it through e-mail like gmail, which does not support sending exe files.

Disadvantages:

- It is not a good method for encrypting any important (top secrets) data.
- The resultant image does not open when a file of higher size is hidden inside it.
- Computer forensic tools like EnCase can easily read the file header and determine the true nature of the file.

For Windows XP Users:

Note: Before editing the registry, please take a back up of it. It is quite simple and can be done by clicking file > Export in registry editor menu and putting the file name of the backup and clicking on save.

- Click on Start and Type regedit in the search box and hit Enter.
- Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER >> Control Panel >> Desktop
- Look at the right pane to locate the key WaitToKillAppTimeout, double click on it and change the value to something between 4000 and 5000. (Lesser the value more quicker will be shutdown, the value is in milliseconds).
- Click on Ok and the settings will be saved.

The key WaitToKillAppTimeout determines how long the system waits for user processes to end after the user attempts to log off or to shut down. When the time specified in this entry expires, the End Task dialog box appears, stating that the process did not respond. So now we need to do some tweak so that end task dialog box will not appear. Right? The key responsible for this is AutoEndTasks.

In registry editor Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER >> Control Panel >> Desktop

Look for AutoEndTasks key in the right pane and double click on it. The default value will be 0, change it to 1. Click on OK. This will not display the end task dialog box.

For Vista Users:

The key WaitToKillAppTimeout is replaced by WaitToKillServiceTimeout in Vista and the location has also changed.

- In Vista navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control
- In right pane, look for WaitToKillServiceTimeout and double click on it. Change the value to around 5000. Click on OK.

Test your shutdown speed now and let me know if it really become quicker.

First you need to download bittorrrent clients like utorrent or bittorrent for Windows, Azureus for Mac and BitTorrent for Linux. This program will enable you to connect to the peers (other users). By this means you can download the files you want to. Click through one of the client above as per your system to download and install the client.

Once you have installed the torrent client, all you have to do is just search for the software, Game, Movie, songs etc to download from the torrent directory, you can use the search engine Torrentz.com

How to open:
- Open Internet Explorer or any other browser.
- Type www.torrentz.com in the address bar.
- In the search pane type anything that you would like to download.
For example you can type “Desperado”

This is the time to be very careful while downloading the Movie. (Ensure that you read and check all the information that I have mentioned here)

Once you get the list of the Movies (Desperado) you have to check for these four things:
- Order by name
- Data
- Size
- Peers

Order by name: It is the place where you will find the list of the search that you have made “E.g.: Desperado” There are something like, movie action video; games windows pc, etc. so you have to choose the correct one. Currently, I am referring to Movie.
Date: it’s a time when particular file was started. Like 1 month ago, 4 month ago or 1 year ago. Just try to search for the latest one.
Size: It is the actual size of the particular download. If you are downloading Movie than make sure that you select at the range of 650 to 800 MB. Rarely, it will be more that. It depends upon the file that you are trying to download from the torrentz. If it is Software or an Operating System then obviously, it will be of huge size.
Peers: It is the person who shares files from their computer. BitTorrent starts with cutting a file into small pieces, the person who starts sharing the file (early seed) sends those small pieces to available peers in the group. The BitTorrent protocol makes sure that the seed sends a unique piece to everyone, so they can immediately exchange these pieces with each other. More number of peers means good and healthy download.

However, I am referring to a Movie called Desperado, so; you can click on the first link. That would be “desperado [1995]DvDrip AC3 6ch[Eng]-Zeus Dias » movies action video”
Here everything is perfect, it’s 1 month old, and has size of 801 Mb and with the peers of 269.
(Note: This may change because of the updates in Movies or changes in peers. So, please try to locate appropriate one)

Once, you click on the link you will receive the list of the search engine and directory. You can select any one of those which will open a new Internet Explorer window.

In the open Windows scroll and search for the “download” or Download this torrent” this will depend upon the search engine that you have selected above.
Never ever click on “Download from UseNext” because it will redirect you to another website where you have to pay and Login to download.

After clicking on “Download” or “Download this torrent” you will receive a small window to “Open” “save” or to “Cancel” the file. Click on “save” and provide appropriate location where you can easily find the file. Better if you can do this in your desktop because it’s just a small file to start an actual download.

Now, go to your desktop and then double click on the file that you have just downloaded. It will prompt you a small window where you can change the save location view the actual size and the percentage of download. After doing all the necessary setting click on “OK”

(Note: This “Task properties…” is for “Bitcomet” (Torrent client) However, it may differ upon the clients that you have downloaded.)

This is the Bitcomet windows where you can check your progress. You can “stop” and download the files later. By start downloading again by clicking on “Start” You can click on “Play” to see the preview of the movie or songs. You can also click on properties to change the settings.

Once you have finished the download it will show as 100%. After this you can open the folder where you have saved the file.

Googled for the error message and tried some troubleshooting steps found in Adobe KB article but never got a chance to reinstall Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended successfully. Uninstalled all the Adobe Photoshop related applications using Add or Remove Programs and Windows Clean up utility but every time it displayed the same error message.

Finally I have successfully reinstalled Photoshop using a simple command. If you are experiencing this issue, please try the following steps:

- Click Start > Program > Accessories > Command Prompt. Right Click and open it with Run As Administrator.
- Type CD\ and press Enter to go to C:\ prompt.
- Type the following command line at C:\ prompt
regsvr32 JScript.DLL and press Enter.
- Now reinstall Photoshop and check.

Start the Phone and Modem Options Control Panel applet (go to Start, Settings, Control Panel, Phone and Modem Options).
Select the Modems tab.
Select the modem, and click Properties.
Select the Advanced tab.
Add one of the options from the table below to the initialization string, and click OK.

First let me tell you the causes this can happen. The most important reason is the restriction set by administrator, but when you yourself is the administrator this reason is not valid. A virus/spyware infection comes next and may be a corrupt registry entry which may be caused due to virus/spyware infection. Registering Files:

- Click on Start and Run and type cmd and click on OK.

- In command prompt type the following as it is provided:

REGSVR32 appwiz.cpl
REGSVR32 inetcpl.cpl
REGSVR32 nusrmgr.cpl

If the registration is successful, you will get a message that “Dllregister server in appwiz.cpl succeeded”

Modify Registry:

Note: Take a back up of registry before doing this.

Click on Start and Run.

Type Regedit and click on OK. It will open registry editor.

Navigate to

HKEY_CURRENT_USER /Software /Microsoft /Windows /CurrentVersion /Policies /Explorer

Search for the value ‘NoControlPanel’ from the right panel from the right and set the Value Data to 0(zero) by double clicking on the entry or we can delete that entry too.

Repeat the same steps for

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE /Software /Microsoft /Windows /CurrentVersion /Policies /Explorer

Use a patch if you are Novice:

If you do not wish to mess up with the registry and you are not experimental, use Control Panel restriction patch from kelly’s Korner.

First a brief introduction about DreamScene feature for those who are still ignorant about it. This is a special feature in Vista which is available only on Windows Vista Ultimate (Apart from that Bit Locker is another feature in Vista Ultimate). This is not a built in feature but available as a download only to Windows Vista Ultimate through Windows Update. With the help of this it is possible to give life to still boring wallpaper on the PC. Yes you can set moving wallpaper and that too set your favorite videos as wallpaper. So the video alongwith the sound will be running as the desktop background. Huh…such a cool feature. Not to forget this feature requires sophisticated hardware like WDDM capable Graphics and obviously much touted Aero feature being enabled (if you have Vista Ultimate then you definitely have both of them).

That was a brief introduction about DreamScene. So now I will provide a couple of workaround to bring that feature in Windows XP albeit it is not exactly porting DreamScene to XP, you will have almost similar effect. We do not need to spend a buck to have this feature running in Windows XP nor do we need any sophisticated hardware or Aero feature. We can use VLC player, BS Player or GT Ripple program to achieve this feat.

Using VLC player:

Download and install VLC player, one merit of this player is that it can play virtually any format without the need of a codec. It can also be installed without administrative right, just change the default path (C:\Programfiles) to something like C:\XXX\VLC where XXX is any folder in C drive. Now do the following steps to run the video in a loop without any interference:

- Open VLC player, click on Settings >>Preferences and expand Interface and Main Interface and click on xWidgets. Click on Advanced setting from the bottom right of the window and uncheck Taskbar. This will remove the VLC player from appearing in the taskbar.

- Click on Video from the left pane and make sure disable screen saver is selected. Expand video option and Output modules option, seelct Direct X and from the right pane check enable wallpaper mode.

- Select Play list from left pane and check repeat current item option from right pane.

- Click on Save.

Open the video in the VLC player. Right click on it while it is playing and select Wallpaper. Voila you have your video set as desktop wallpaper.

Using BS Player:

I will not recommend this method, cause the free version of BS Player is supported by adware as written on the home page. But it does not require any configuration. Just download and install the player, open the video in the player and right click on the video and select desktop mode or just press D key from the keyboard while the video is running.

Using GT Ripple:

This will not let us play video rather it will bring animation effect to the still wallpaper. Say you are using the Azul wallpaper with water and coconut tree and a sail boat to create the perfect scenery. But the water is standstill and give very boring effect. Here we can make the water moving using the GT Ripple program. I suggest to use this utlity to have professional quality animated wallpaper with ripple effect and Azul is the best wallpaper to experiemt with. Download and install the GT Ripple program. When started it will sit on the system tray and do it’s work. Click on the mirrror button from the toolbar to remove the mirroring. Play with available options like Frequency, height, Amplitude, perspective and speed to make the best suited rippling wallpaper.

The steps are for increasing BROADBAND speed in Windows XP and also work for 56k modems too.

1. Logged on to computer using Administrator Credentials.

2. Start > Run > type “gpedit.msc” (It is not available in XP Home)

3. Expand the Local Computer Policy.

4. Expand the Administrative Templates.

5. Expand the Network branch.

6. Highlight the “QoS Packet Scheduler” in left side window.

7. In right Window double click the “limit reservable bandwidth” setting.

8. On setting tab check the ENABLED item.

9. Change the value to 0 (ZERO), where it says “Bandwidth limit %” .

10. Close gpedit.msc.

11. Restart the system and check with the network connection speed. Note: It does not work on XP Home Edition.
